The Halloween Oracle

Well, it’s that season again and it’s my favorite time of the year. How could I possibly resist this deck? This is not a Tarot deck but a 36 cards oracle deck. And, so far, it has not disappointed. Beautiful artwork and good card stock, this deck will be for all Samhain/Halloween lovers to read with and one to collect too.

The booklet comes with explanations for each image/meaning and the deck reads easily and is spookily (pun intended) accurate. I love the size too, I generally prefer bigger decks and this is what I would call a slightly larger size but shuffles well nonetheless. So far I have mainly read with it for myself and it has extracted some ohhhh-ahhhhh’s as to its accuracy.

This makes a nice addition to my decks (I lost count), unfortunately there aren’t many Halloween themed decks, The Halloween Tarot (my all time favorite) being the main one and this oracle deck will be the perfect companion I feel.

I would recommend this deck for beginners and non and for all, like me, that are totally “Halloween obsessed” 😉

Day of the Dead 2013

I did my usual candle remembrance ritual on this day and again made it into a FB event like last year to pay it forward and help remember those we loved and lost wherever we are. It went well but only 2 happenings worthy of note and no specific messages received (at least not yet). Firstly the cat going mental all evening from shortly after candle was lit. I started to worry because she behaved exactly like my cat used to behave in Italy before an earthquake. At some point she was asleep on her chair and then suddenly jumped out of it so fast the cushion flew across the room…Secondly my long-lost nan appeared to me in my dreams last night. A short but lovely dream were she assured me all was well and I should carry on :).

It feels like the energy around these last few days is dark and dense. I don’t know if it is because of the New Moon + eclipse + all else that is going on but I feel it. And it’s the kind of energy that you don’t want sticking to yourself. I have the last of the candle burning right now, will cleanse some more afterwards. But I really hope this energy will shift and soon. It has been a weird year this 2013, and I can safely say I will be happy to see it out and welcome new changes and energies :).

Samhain (Halloween) Spells and Candle Magic

It’s that time of the year again, the 18th of October is the next Full Moon and we also have 2 eclipses occurring this month, one lunar and one solar. To be honest the energies have been all over the place for me this year but let’s concentrate on good things :).

Here I give you 2 examples of a Full Moon simple candle ritual for attracting prosperity and a simple Tarot spell for getting rid of negativity (to be done after Full Moon in the waning phase).

Full Moon Candle ritual for prosperity:

– Green candle

– sea salt (or kosher salt)

– Attraction Oil (or if unavailable simple olive oil will do)

– chopped dried basil leaves

Anoint the candle with the oil by rubbing it TOWARD yourself in one direction only. State your intention and what you want to attain (it is better to speak out this loudly but you can think it too if you prefer). Do this for a couple of minutes. Mix the basil with some of the salt and rub on the candle (again in one direction toward yourself), light the candle and, if possible, let it burn until extinguished.

Tarot spell for clearing negativity:

– Black candle

– Black obsidian (or black tourmaline)

– Rosemary incense (or Sandalwood if not available)

– A Tarot deck

Light the incense. Cleanse the candle by imagining it covered in white light and all the negativity cleared from it, do this until you feel it is thoroughly cleansed. Light the candle. Lay the crystals next to it. Now take out from your Tarot deck the following 3 cards: Death, 8 of Cups, 6 of Swords. Lay the cards one after the other beside (but not too close for safety!) the candle and incense. State loudly what you want to clear, get rid of or what you want to move away from. Leave this setting untouched until the candle is fully extinguished.

I will post some more Halloween spells towards the end of the month :), you can also take the short Tarot Spells course I offer directly from my website.

Day of the Dead, Halloween and a simple ritual

This is my favorite time of the year: the approaching winter, beautiful autumnal colours, the chill in the air and the promise of wonderful winter food…it is also a time for remembering those that have moved on and left us. Back when I was living in Italy I remember fondly gathering with the oversized family on the 1st of November for a feast and then, on the 2nd of November (All Souls) the trip to the cemetery to visit lost relatives.

Through the years (and since I do not live in Italy anymore) I have worked out my own perfected ritual for remembrance. I usually get lots of messages after it and for a couple of nights afterwards. It does not matter what religion you belong to or if you have none, this is simply to honor those that we have lost (from this plane). I won’t go into my ritual since it’s a bit convoluted and also I’d like to keep it personal 🙂 however it is very simple to set up a remembrance altar for Samhain should you wish to do so. All you need is:
1 black candle

1 orange candle

Angelite or Kyanite crystals (if you have neither you can use pink quartz)

a picture or the name of the person you are remembering written on paper.

Clear the space where you are going to burn the candles. You can do so by smudging with sage or incense or by visualizing the place bathed in light with all the negativity rushing out from the doors and windows. Once done just focus on the person and cleanse each candle with oil (altar oil, olive oil would do) you can do so by rubbing the oil gently on the candle with either your hands or a tissue. As you light the candles ask for any messages if possible and then let the candles burn completely.

Merry Samhain 🙂
